The Island chapter ended it's tournament season with a bang November 30th and December 1st 2008. The annual Don Q Cup, Pro's V. Am's tournament took place Sunday November 30th at Costa Caribe Resort in Ponce Puerto Rico. The professional team took the title for the fourth straight year with a 42 to 30 victory. The 27 hole event saw the 12 highest ranked Island chapter members take on the PRGA's team selected by their annual ranking system. Thank you goes out to Tony Loyola, host professional at Costa Caribe, Erick Krahn the General Manager of Costa Caribe and the Serralles family for allowing us to host this extremely important event. The weekend was capped off with a 36-hole Island chapter Championship, Monday December 1st in Ponce. Fifteen professionals braved the windy conditions to post impressive scores. Sixth Place was Robert Moreno, fifth Jason Tobar, 4th George Smith, third Alberto Rios, 2nd Eduardo Figueroa and champion Aaron West. In the player card category, 4th was Rafael Castrillo, tied for second were Jose Rodriguez and Joel Ortiz, with Hector Fernandez post a (-1) 143 in the difficult conditions to take the crown. Player Card player of the year was won by Hector Fernandez, beating his nearest competitor by more than 25 points. Aaron West won the 2008 Player of the Year with 109 total points in 16 total events. This is Aaron West's fourth straight player of the year title and Hector Fernandez second straight player card player of the year title. The year end meeting will take place in the coming weeks, as Vice President Seth Henrich secures the meeting space.
