The 2008 Island chapter tournament season got underway yesterday, Monday February 25th at 12:30 at Bahia Beach. The tournament, the Professional/Professional, pitted 9 teams of two against each other on the newly redesigned and reopened Bahia Beach. Teams were blind drawn by tournament coordinator Robert Birtel immediately before the start of the event and places 5th through 9th were Seth Henrich/Jose Rodriguez, Aaron West/Tom Vingerud, Robert Birtel/Joel Oriz, Paul Veneziano/Carmen Ana Rivera, and George Smith/Rigo Morales. Finishing in fourth place was the team of Benny Nieves and Tony Loyola with a scores of +1 73. 3rd place with a score of 72 was the team of Craig Swiderski and Rafael Castrillo Junior, 2nd place was won by the team of Robert Moreno and Jorge Rodriguez. Finally, with their first win of the 2008 tournament season Hector Fernandez and Eduardo Figueroa fired an impressive (-3) 69 on the links.
