Host professional Aaron West defended his turf with a (-4) 68 at Dorado del Mar to win this years Dorado del Mar Pro-Am Wednesday June 11 @ 12:30. The event hosted 16 professionals a low for this tournament season however 7 professionals shot (+1) or better or nearly half the field. In second place Jason Tobar shot (-2) 70 and a three way third place tie between George Smith, Hector Fernandez and Robert Moreno @ (-1) 71. Benny Nieves came away with the win at the 2008 El Conquistador Pro-Am on Wednesday June 4th, 2008 at 12:30 pm. Exquisite course conditions provided for difficult scoring at the event. Benny fired 71 (-1) on the only course that has seen an over par winning score in the last two years. Following Benny closely was Hector Fernandez who continues his strong play with another strong finish, this time as a runner up with 73 (+1). Third place saw a bunched grouping with Eduardo Figueroa continuing his strong play, Rigo Morales and Robert Birtel posting their first top three finishes of the year. Sixth place saw another group at 76 and a final group posted 77's to round out multiple point scoring for the event. The Roosevelt Roads Golf Association supported El Conquistador and the tournament well with approximately 65 amateurs showing up for this event. The next scheduled event is Wednesday June 11 at Dorado del Mar. The fifth Pro-Am of the year will be held on the tight, short links where George Smith defends his title from 2007.
