Island Chapter

November 26th 2007 marked the final chapter tournament for thsi season. The windy conditions at Costa Caribe in Ponce, Puerto Rico provided for a difficult test and a fitting champion the low hitting Jorge Smith with a (+1) 145 for 36 holes. Second place was another Dorado Boy Bobbie "Cha Cha Cha" Birtel with a 147 (+3), The player card division was won by Hector "El Macho" Fernandez with 148 (+4). The 2007 Island Chapter season was a success with 15 total events and seven different tournament winners. George Smith won three individual tournaments along with playing on winning Pro's versus Am's teams and being the low PGA qualifier for the PR Open.

The Island chapter played it last Pro-Am for 2007 when it traveled to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico for the annual Rio Mar Pro-Am. Wet conditions lead to Island Chapter Professional George Smith and Player card holder Hector Fernandez firing matching 71's (-1). This continues the recent trend of under par scores during the Island chapter tournaments. The tie was broken by an 18 hole stableford playoff Thursday during the Liberty Pro-Am. Third place for the Rio Mar pro-am was Rafael "the Rake" Castrillo with 74, followed by a 4th place tie between Aaron West and Benny Nieves with matching 75's.
