The Island Chapter Championship was held on November 27th at Costa Caribe in Ponce, Puerto Rico. First time winner Mark clouse took the crown with Even par 144. Second Place and overall points Champion Aaron West fired a 149 to win Player of the Year for 2006. A third place tie between Brian Shaver, Alberto rios and Paul Veneziano with scores of 150. Sixt place saw Robert Moreno and Robert Birtel with matching 153's. The player card holders had their own divisional crown and Hector Fernandez came through with a 145 to take the Player card category for 2006. All in all a successful tournament season with improved scores from our tournament fields. We welcome all the professionals and their amateur teams to Cap Cana for the Cap Cana invitational December 10-12th, 2006.

The November 15th Rio Mar Pro-am is in the books and (-2) 70 from Aaron West was our winner. Mark Clouse finshed with a (-1) 71 to take second. This continues the Island Chapter PGA streak of Pro-am's under Par. The Rio Mar River course was in top shape and ready for our Pro-Am. Third place was Hector Fernandez and Jesus Rodriguez with even par 72's.
The following day marked the Liberty Cablevision Pro-am and the Island Chapters biggest purse of the year. The stableford format oturnament saw a three way tie for first place with Robert Moreno taking the tournament title. Aaron West and Hector Fernandez also carded 36 points to take 2nd and third respectively. The final official event of the season will be held at Costa Caribe on Monday November 27th. The 36 hole chapter Championship is the culmination of a year of tournament golf. A tight points race makes this an exciting event. The last Island Chapter meeting of the Year rounds out this event, where our 2006 Chapter awards will be voted on and our 2007-2008 board members will be elected.
Mark your calendars for the Cap Cana Invitational December 10-12 at Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic. This exciting event will sure to highlight your 2006.

The Professionals versus Amateurs tournament was held October 15th in our Fall Favorite Costa Caribe in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Fortunately the Professionals put on a golfing display and put the smack down on the amateurs for the second straight year. Captain Brian Shaver did a spectacular job putting together and pairing the professional team on short notice. Rob Slavonia, However, was not quite as successful in his bring your best amateur team building exercise. Final Score professionals 32 1/2 Amateurs 21 1/2. We would like to thank Don Q and the Serralles family as well as Costa Caribe and the amateur participants for their support of this once a year event.
The Costa Caribe Pro-Am was held on October 25th and our Champion with a score of 69 (-3) Alberto Rios director of golf from CoCo Beach CC. In a tie for seond we had a log jam of 4 players with a (-1) 71, Paul Veneziano, Yoyo Rosario, Daniel Santiago and Hector Fernandez. We have two events left on our official tournament schedule for 2006, Rio Mar Pro-Am on November 15th, 12:30 and the chapter Championship November 27th back down in our Fall favorite Costa Caribe in Ponce, Puerto Rico. We also have three unofficial events left this year starting with the Liberty Cablevision Pro-am on November 16th at rio Mar, please contact robert Moreno to secure your spot in the event rmoreno@westinriomar.com. We have the Seth Bull Open which is a charity tournament to help out the American Hear association on November 17 and the 19th in Humacao, Puerto rico and we finish up the year with a new event at Cap Cana.
