The Plantation club Pro-Am held on Wednesday April 11, 2007 is in the books and a first time winner was crowned. George Smith survived at 2 hole sudden death play-off against his Dorado Beach counterpart Junior Colon. The conditions were windy and the pin placements tucked to prevent someone from taking the Pineapple golf course at the Plantation Club deep. It was the first over par winning score at an Island chapter Pro-am since 2005. Rounding out the top four Aaron West with a third place finish and tied for fourth were Yoyo Rosario, Robert Moreno and Jose Rodriguez. The event featured 19 professionals from three different Islands. Hats were given away by PG sports from Pukka, Titleist Pro V1X balls were given to all the participants by Sports group and Closest to the Pin and longest drive contests were sponsored by SportsGroup and Sidney Wolf. Pepsi and Presidente supplied the product (beverage) for the banquet. Financial support was also given by Plaza cellars, Agro servicios and Longo de Puerto Rico. Promotional support was provided by Papo Velez Productions, Carribean Golf Magazine and Hole in One golf news.
A reminder to all participants the next Pro-am will be held at Dorado Beach on May 16, and your teams with handicaps need to be reported to Victor Ramos by 12:00 on Monday afternoon.
